Fuel Department – Diagnose

Find the fuel decision before entering numbers.

Use this page to decide whether today’s fuel question belongs in card setup, fuel stop buying, or IFTA reconciliation. The right tool depends on the job in front of the operator.

Core rule

Name the fuel job before entering the numbers.

Fuel card setup, today’s buying decision, and IFTA reconciliation are separate jobs inside one Fuel Path. This page routes the question first so the operator does not mix provider promises, pump prices, route miles, and tax records into one messy answer.

Diesel price context

Use automated national and regional prices as planning context.

EIA-style prices help frame the market. They do not replace the actual stop price or card net price used in the buying tool.

Fuel Department Fuel Cost Record

Put paid fuel cost in the same frame as the miles it supported.

Enter one completed operating period. The tool calculates the fuel cost per mile from your actual fuel purchases and actual operating mileswithout using market-price feeds, provider claims, or an assumed MPG.

Core Rule

Fuel cost only means something when the costs and miles cover the same work.

Use actual fuel-purchase amounts paid during the selected period and the operating miles from that same period and vehicle scope. Do not substitute a card headline discount, a national diesel average, an IFTA reserve, or a single stop price.

Fuel Cost Record

Build the current cost record.

The completed Fuel Cost Record stays on this device for 14 days. It is available to the optional Whole-Business Review only through its read-only Fuel contribution.

Nothing is saved until you build a completed Fuel Cost Record.

Entered record facts

Limits on this record: It does not assess profitability, route quality, idling, tolls, labor, maintenance, tax liability, provider fit, or whether the fuel cost is acceptable. It records only the matched fuel-cost context you entered.

    Matching fuel guides

Read only the evidence your decision needs.

Every link opens the matching updated article inside the Fuel Guide Library. The guide explains the evidence; the tool produces the result.
